Here’s a quick look at why and how the One Cross healthcare clinic came to serve the community of Campbellsville:

2000

In 2000, after working as a Nurse Practitioner for many years, God began to stir my heart. Like many of my colleagues, I noticed the unignorable ways American quality of healthcare and our communities were suffering. Emphasis was being put on numbers, instead of care for each individual person – especially for those who were lacking in resources. 

Over the next decade, my passion for change continued to grow, I joined Christian Community Health Fellowship, attended seminars, conferences and connected with compassionate leaders about opening a new clinic–one that would be accessible, patient-centered and committed to excellence.

EMPHASIS ON THE THE INDIVIDUAL, NOT THE NUMBERS

2010

In 2000, after working as a Nurse Practitioner for many years, God began to stir my heart. Like manIn 2010, the dream of One Cross Campbellsville Clinic was born out of much community prayer, and plans to pursue the vision were created. It was to be a holistic clinic that would provide excellent general health care to all who walked through the doors, regardless of income, while sharing God’s love. There was just one problem: Every seminar emphasized the need for a “Physician Champion” to establish the clinic.

A DREAM IS BORN: EXPANDING ACCESS TO QUALITY CARE 

2013

Even after seeking out many trials, interactions, committees, board creation, and assistance from Empowering Church Health Outreach, ECHO, to help establish a structure for the healthcare clinic, I failed to find the “Physician Champion” it needed to succeed. By 2013, I felt so crushed by the adversities, time spent, and hurdles we could not seem to get past, that I decided to lay my dream to rest… Or so I thought! 

THE DARKEST DARKNESS PRESENTS ITSELF JUST BEFORE DAWN

2014

Early in 2014, a beloved pastor friend, Pastor Gillespie, visited me at the clinic where I was working. Pastor Gillespie prayed many times with me, and we’d discussed at length the need for whole-person, Christ-centered care in our region. He’d prayed with me when the dream of One Cross Campbellsville Clinic first came alive, and he prayed with me during the hard decision to lay it aside. On this particular day he came to visit me, Pastor Gillespie shared that God had put it on his heart to come and tell me that I should revive the vision for the clinic God had given me. With an old wound now opened, I told my beloved friend that I’d pray about it. And, when I did, I was re-ignited with the urgent passion and courage to proceed, without the physician champion I thought I needed. 

TOOLS & GUIDANCE ARE GIVEN

2015

On January 5, 2015, One Cross Medical Clinic opened its doors and arms to embrace the community of Campbellsville, Kentucky, with the unconditional love of God. And, through the grace of God, One Cross Campbellsville Clinic is now a growing, thriving medical office offering comprehensive medical care.

Although our journey was far from easy, we believe never giving up and courageously pressing on with integrity, dedication and bravery, will always empower us to create a happy ending to our story. And, here at One Cross, we continue to work to assess the needs of the community and seek to fulfill them, as it’s our mission to help you experience a happy beginning, middle, and ending to your unique wellness journey.
